Event permits and rules: be covered.
Are you planning an event? It’s easy to forget some crucial permits and obligations. However, they are key to avoiding costly surprises during inspections and keeping your guests and team safe!
Here are a few essentials you should not forget for events organized in Belgium:
- Insurance: Secure event insurance to cover accidents, damages, or cancellations. Check if the event venue offers additional insurance options.
- Music Rights: Pay SABAM fees for any event music.
- Measure decibel levels: Provide free earplugs if noise averages above 95 dB.
- Permits and Licenses: Check with your municipality whether you need alcohol, noise or closing time permits, or specific permits for your event set-up (tents, stages, …) and location.
- Safety First: ensure first aid help during your event. Certain events may require the presence of the Red Cross; notify local police of large events to assist with risk assessment
- Privacy (GDPR): Stay GDPR-compliant by requesting visitor permission and managing data securely.
- Crowd Control: Manage venue capacity and security, avoid overcrowding.
- Create your checklist yourself to ensure nothing is overlooked! Following these obligations will help avoid issues and ensure your event’s success.
